new CDT codes
Dentists use the Current Dental Terminology © American Dental Association dental procedure codes to report any services performed for their patients to insurance companies. Insurance companies use the codes reported by dentists to calculate and pay claims. On January 1, 2014, new Current Dental Terminology (CDT) dental procedure codes will take effect.
We are updating our claims-paying system with these procedure codes, and plan members can continue to visit their dentists and have claims filed as usual. Dental plans will remain the same, so dental certificates will not be reissued. Our customers can rest assured that we will continue to process their claims efficiently and accurately through this routine update.
Online ID Cards
To meet consumers’ increasing demands for online flexibility, improved information and instant access to dental, hearing and vision insurance information, members and benefit administrators from eligible plans can now access, view, print and save their personalized dental, vision and/or hearing ID cards via their secure accounts.
Lawmakers in several states have passed legislation that no longer allows insurers to require dental and/or vision providers to give discounts for services not covered under an insured plan. Visit www.ameritasgroup.com/noncovered_procedures for a list of states that have passed this legislation. Share this news with your plan members who may obtain services from dental and/or vision providers in these states. While this new legislation applies only to discounts on non-covered services under insured plans, and does not affect the policyholder's current insured benefit plans(s), members in these states may no longer receive discounts on non-covered services and should discuss any available discounts with their dental and/or vision provider. Check back for any updates, especially for policyholders with members located in multiple states.
