October 6, 2008//Lincoln, Neb.//In June 2007, the Texas Department of Insurance approved the merger of LifeRe Insurance Company into Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., a UNIFI Company. The final transition of LifeRe systems and policies to Ameritas occurred October 1, 2008.

“Both companies have spent the last 16 months converting systems, rewriting LifeRe dental and eye care plans to Ameritas, training associates and building relationships,” said Ken VanCleave, president – Ameritas Group. “Everyone involved worked hard to make sure this transition happened as seamlessly as possible for LifeRe’s brokers, policyholders and members.”

The sale of LifeRe Insurance Company to Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. in July 2007 was prompted by the retirement of LifeRe Chairman of the Board and CEO Richard Galland. It has allowed Ameritas’ Group Division to operate a new sales and service center in San Antonio, where LifeRe was located, making Texas one of the largest states in its business portfolio.
